How to Enable SOCKS With hide.me Browser Extension

This tutorial will explain how to use SOCKS extension in your web browser. Furthermore, you will learn why you should use it.

SOCKS proxy serves as an additional security layer and is available only in our Premium plan. In short, it will render your browser inert unless the VPN connection is active. To clarify, enabling the Browser extension and disabling the VPN connection will block all traffic from your web browser.

Managing it is a breeze and is done with a push of a button.

1. Install the extension

   To start with, install hide.me browser extension from this link.
   
   

2. Go to Extension’s Settings

   Hide.me extension’s icon will show in the upper right corner of your web browser. Firstly, click on it. After that, click on the cogwheel icon to open Settings.
   
   

3. Enable SOCKS

   In order to enable SOCKS, click on the Enable SOCKS button.
   
   

4. Connect the SOCKS in the Extension

   Before proceeding, make sure you have our Premium plan and connect your VPN client. After that, click on the extension’s icon. Finally, connect the extension by clicking on Disconnected/Connected button.
