How To Secure Deluge with VPN

In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to secure Deluge application and bind it to the hide.me VPN service.


Step 1: Binding Deluge to hide.me VPN

To bind Deluge application to our VPN service, please click here and follow the instructions.

Note: Please ensure you’ve added Deluge in the Limit Apps to VPN settings.


Step 2: Setting up SOCKS Proxy

Launch your Deluge client and click on Edit followed by Preferences. Next, click on Proxy at the left and enter the details below.

  • Type: Socksv5
  • Host: socks.hide.me
  • Port: 1080

Note: Leave the other options as it is. (Default) and click on Apply.


Step 3: Disable DHT Network

In the Preferences menu, click on Network at the left and UNCHECK the followings under Network Extras and click on Apply at the bottom right.

1.  DHT

2.  LSD

3.  Peer Exchange

That’s it! If the VPN is not connected/dropped, your torrent download(s) will stop and the connection will not leak.
