  IKEv2 is only available on macOS 10.11 and above
  
  Click on "System Preferences…" and then click on "Network".

  Click on "+".

  Select "VPN" in the dropdown menu "Interface" and "IKEv2" as VPN Type. Set the Service Name to hide.me VPN and afterwards click on "Create".

  Select a server in the members area and put the alternative server address as "Server Address" and hide.me as "Remote ID:". Then click on "Authentication Settings…".

  Select "Username" as Authentication Setting and enter your credentials.

  Tick "Show VPN status in menu bar" and click on "Apply". To establish a VPN connection click on "Connect".

  If connection has been successfully established, the status is shown in the menu bar. You can manage your VPN connection in the network settings.
