Former Trump DOJ No. 2 sits for interview with Jan. 6 committee

Richard Donoghue — formerly the Justice Department’s second-in-command — appeared for a closed-door interview on Friday with the select panel investigating Jan. 6, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

The interview, one of the panel’s first, comes as its investigators accelerate their probe of the events leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Donoghue’s tenure at the Justice Department in the final days of the Trump administration has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers as they explore the former president’s attempts to pressure the department to interfere in the 2020 election.

A spokesperson for the panel declined to comment. A lawyer representing Donoghue did not respond to a request for comment.

The Jan. 6 panel’s chair alluded to the start of their closed-door interviews on Friday.

“We are questioning some of the voluntary witnesses today, and we'll continue that process. We'll have other subpoenas scheduled to come out, and we'll continue to do our work,” Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) told reporters.

The panel also faces key deadlines this week in its investigation. Some of the former president’s closest aides and advisers have been given until Thursday to provide documents related to the attack, and failure to comply could result in “criminal referrals,” Thompson said on Friday.

Friday’s interview was not Donoghue’s first sit-down with a congressional panel investigating the aftermath of the 2020 election. He completed a closed-door interview with the Senate Judiciary Committee at the beginning of August. The House Oversight Committee had also scheduled interviews with Donoghue and other former Justice Department officials, but abruptly canceled the interviews and handed off its investigation to the select panel.

Donoghue took detailed notes on a Dec. 27 call between former President Donald Trump and acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen in which the former president had pressured Justice Department officials to call the 2020 election “corrupt” and “illegal” even as they told Trump the claims of voter fraud were false.

And in early January, another top Justice Department official, Patrick Hovakimian, became so concerned Trump might fire Rosen that he drafted a memo announcing both he and Donoghue would resign in response. The then-acting attorney general was never fired, and the email was never sent, though the House Oversight Committee obtained a copy of it during its probe of the Justice Department.

So while Nancy Antoinette is seeking justice cause some rascals broke into her office and stole her beer :D

We learn that some stock trading young guns have been stalking hubby Paul and watching closely what stocks he likes.
And, they been making a killing. As in, EVERY stock hubby Paul has picked in the last two years has been a money maker.
Wow. That's some record! As in unheard of success in the stock trading industry.

Now, mind you, Nancy doesn't do stocks anymore. Not since they named an amendment after her (More formally known as "The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act") after that embarrassing killing she made on a VISA stock deal in 2012 that was suspiciously timed to her holding up voting on a bill that VISA didn't like.

But hubby Paul does. And he's quite good at picking winners. In fact, suspiciously successful. And some young stock traders have taken note and are following his lead. Not saying Paul is getting inside information. That would be illegal. Especially if it came from a member of Congress. Like Nancy. But hey, a 100% success rate in stocks is just about like hitting the number every time at the craps table. Kind of looks suspicious, right?

They should also note that hubby is in real estate. And should look into Hunters Point. Not that Paul has any interest in Hunters Point. But Nancy's family does. They're right up to their necks in Hunters Point. Which, you might recall, is the former Naval base in San Francisco that the government got rid of a few years ago. That Nancy made the government clean up. That Nancy's family is now developing. Any guess about the value of 40 acres of prime San Francisco real estate? Especially with a fancy new light rail spur planned to run very near the development funded by, wait for it ............... BIDENS $3.5 TRILLION PIG BILL!

    Ain't capitalism great?

Facebook Whistleblower to Meet With Lawmakers Investigating Jan. 6 Violence, Report Says

The former Facebook staffer who went public this week with damning allegations against the social-media giant is set to meet with House lawmakers investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, according to CNN. Frances Haugen could meet with the House select committee as soon as Thursday, just two days after she testified at a Senate hearing that Facebook is putting “their astronomical profits before people” and harming children and teenagers in the process. Haugen’s allegations against the company prompted executives there to engage in a bit of damage control last week, with a pre-emptive internal memo denying her claim that the social network enabled Jan. 6 rioters. Before Haugen had publicly come forward, she spoke anonymously in media reports about Facebook allegedly letting down election-related safeguards and thereby allowing Jan. 6 participants to organize on the platform. House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff tweeted this week that lawmakers want to hear Haugen elaborate on that allegation. “According to this Facebook whistleblower, shutting down the civic integrity team and turning off election misinformation tools contributed to the Jan 6 insurrection,” Schiff said.

Capitol riot committee subpoenas 'Stop the Steal' organizer who boasted of 'scheming' with GOP lawmakers

The House select committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riots has subpoenaed "Stop the Steal" organizer Ali Alexander, who boasted of "scheming" with multiple congressional Republicans to put "maximum pressure" on Congress to not certify the results of the 2020 election.

News of the subpoena was first reported by Politico's Kyle Cheney.

The Washington Post reported earlier this year that Alexander, in a since-deleted video, said that he plotted with Reps. Mo Brooks (R-AL), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) to get Congress to vote against certifying the 2020 election.

"We four schemed up of putting maximum pressure on Congress while they were voting," he said in the video, while adding that the plan was to "change the hearts and the minds of Republicans who were in that body, hearing our loud roar from outside."

Once Trump supporters breached the Capitol, however, members of Congress were evacuated and the certification of the election was delayed by several hours.

The Capitol riot also resulted in former President Donald Trump getting impeached for a second time, while 57 senators voted to convict him in the United States Senate.

Read the committee's full letter to Alexander below.

Capitol riot committee finally serves Trump aide Dan Scavino with his subpoena: report

    Bob Brigham

    Daniel Scavino, Jr. on Facebook.

Former White House deputy chief of staff for communications Dan Scavino was finally served a subpoena on Friday by the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol, Politico reported Friday.

On September 23rd, the select committee announced it would be subpoenaing Scavino along with former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former Defense Department official Kashyap Patel, and strategist Steve Bannon.

The subpoenas set a deadline of Friday for the four to turn over information. Following the breach of the deadline, the committee released a statement that did not mention Scavino.

On Tuesday, CNN reported that the select committee had been unable to serve Scavino the subpoena.

On Saturday, Politico reported that Scavino was finally served on Friday, the same day as the deadline.

"Scavino was served with his subpoena Friday, according to two sources familiar with the situation. He was served in New York, according to one of the sources, who noted this was the first time service was attempted, as Scavino has been out in public since the subpoenas were issued," Politico reported.

The select committee declined to comment to Politico on that status of Scavino's subpoena.

Jim Jordan is a psych wrestler. They try to bully their opponents mentally as much as physically. And they get away with it because they are always so mentally psyched up they can just explode on the mat. But that's all based on a flaw. The psych is where they get their confidence and if you just ignore the bullshit and pick them apart a take down at a time then the psych becomes the enemy and crashes. And they most always just bust out crying.

Jim Jordan handed the House riot commission the keys to subpoenaing him: report

    Tom Boggioni
    October 09, 2021

    Rep. Jim Jordan (WCMH)
According to a report from Politico, members of the House select committee investigating the Jan 6th insurrection are preparing to go into battle with some of their colleagues over their actions on that day and that may put some Republicans in an awkward spot.

One such GOP lawmaker is combative Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who may have inadvertently handed committee members wanting to talk to him about his multiple conversations with former president Trump, the legal pathway to compel him to testify under oath.

As Politico's Kyle Cheney and Olivia Beavers wrote, "The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack has so far avoided directly roping in fellow lawmakers, even as it homes in on Trump's inner circle. Yet each of its investigative steps so far has further underscored the roles that Trump's staunchest House GOP allies played in his bid to throw out the election results," before adding, "Those Republicans connected the former president to willing partners in the Justice Department who might fuel inflated claims of fraud. They huddled with Trump to deliver counsel. And they spoke with Trump by phone on Jan. 6 as he watched his own 'Stop the Steal' rally morph into a violent riot that overtook the Capitol."

According to the report, Jordan will likely find himself under the microscope and -- if he can't get around being subpoenaed by his colleagues -- he only has himself to blame.

"That reality became more explicit this week, when Senate Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) asked the House to investigate Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) for helping Trump pressure the Justice Department to overturn the election. Perry played a key role in linking Trump with a Justice Department official who was willing to aid the former president's quest to overturn the election, Senate Judiciary Democrats found. Their report also referenced Rep. Jim Jordan's (R-Ohio) contacts with the White House during that timeframe," Politico is reporting.

In Jordan's case, his participation into investigations of Democratic foes and the FBI provided a legal pathway that will likely come back to bite him.

"The question of whether to engage with the select panel is a particularly resonant one for Jordan, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee. He made his name as an aggressive conservative investigator when Republicans dug into allegations of impropriety at the FBI and Justice Department during the 2016 presidential election. At that time, House Republicans fiercely defended the power of the subpoena to compel testimony from executive-branch officials," the report states. "Now Jordan and several of his colleagues are in uncharted territory, facing possible subpoenas from within their own branch."

Steve Bannon and Rudy Giuliani laugh about going to prison together while mocking Jan. 6 committee

    Real America's Voice/screen grab
Trump allies Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon on Monday mocked the idea that they could go to prison for flouting a House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The two men made the comments during a segment defending Columbus Day on Bannon's War Room broadcast.

Giuliani told the story of a mafia boss who was treated well in prison after being convicted.

"And he was conducting his business from prison," the former New York mayor recalled.

"Rudy!" Bannon interrupted. "That's the [prison] suite you're going to get when the committee puts you in prison? Have you got that all lined up already?"

"I don't intend to go without you," Giuliani shot back. "I'm going with you and a couple of other guys that sound interesting."

"I'm counting on you to get hooked up," he added. "We'll do radio and television all day."

"The War Room! Come on," Bannon replied. "War Room: The Prison Years."

The reason treasonous conservative/Republicans hate Rep Adam Schiff so much and always falsely accuse him is because they are terrified of him. Because he is always so good at what he does. Especially getting to the bottom of the truth.

Adam Schiff promises to prosecute Trump admin officials who defy Jan 6 committee's subpoenas

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who is a member of the Jan. 6 committee, announced this weekend that the committee is "prepared to go forward and urge the Justice Department" to prosecute anyone who refuses to comply with their subpoenas.

Steve Bannon, Mark Meadows, Dan Scavino, and Kash Patel -- all former advisers and aides to Donald Trump during his presidency -- have defied subpoenas sent to them by the committee. Schiff told CBS News that he wants to "make sure that these witnesses come in and testify," as it is their "lawful duty."

Schiff also praised the Biden administration for "not asserting executive privilege" over documents from the Trump administration that are key pieces of evidence regarding the Capitol riot. He added that the documents will be turned over "very soon," and that he applauds the administration for "not trying, because it's protecting its own prerogative, to deprive the American people of the full facts. So hats off to the administration."

    Falsely accused ..........
Remember when Schiff insisted he'd seen the evidence of Trump's CRIMINAL conspiracy to collude with Russia in the 2016 election? The one the Despicables screamed was interfered with by Russia, the one that handed Trump the oval office? And deplorables shouted back; show us the evidence?

And then later when we learned he had nothing of the sort?
Adam Schiff lied about the Trump probe — and the media let him (nypost.com)

And by the way, while we're on the subject, how is it the 2016 election was interfered with by Russia (when trump won,) but there was NO interference and no fraud when trump lost in 2020?

What, the despicables plugged all the holes and ran Russia off and never mentioned what they did?

And if there is proof, lets see it!
Not the shit for brains propaganda stumbler or the despicables post daily, but lets see the proof.
Shooter is just positive that Robert Mueller would love to see it.

Actually you know Robert Mueller did confirm the conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia. I have posted it on at least three threads. And Adam Schiff proved exactly what he said and why he said it.

This is just the same scam you always try to run. Demand proof and when it is presented to multiple times. Just ignore that and keep coming back with the same lies.

      Dumb ass.
      The question was rhetorical.
We both know mueller never proved a trump/russian conspiracy and schiff has the same problem you do.
      No matter.
      So the proof is there.
Schiff has it in his office safe.
      Or wherever.

Given the despicable wet dream of seeing trump perp walked, how is it he's still out and free?
      Why isn't trump in handcuffs?
      Another rhetorical question. Don't bother.

See above for the relentless attack on the truth. We see it here on our little forum everyday.

‘Relentless attack on the truth’: Adam Schiff says he caught Kevin McCarthy in a blatant lie

Rep. Adam Schiff and Rep. Kevin McCarthy. (MSNBC/Screenshots)

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) claimed Tuesday that House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-A) lied to reporters about their conversations and had no explanation when confronted.

The California Democrat said his Republican counterpart's willingness to lie without shame was part of the broader problem afflicting U.S. democracy since Donald Trump entered politics, and he told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that rooting out that threat was the purpose of the House investigation of the Jan. 6 insurrection.

"On this select committee, we are of one mind. Anyone who does not comply [with subpoenas] we will refer for criminal prosecution, and there needs to be accountability," Schiff said. "It really is essential for us to bring our democracy back from the brink, that we once again have our rules applied equally to everyone."

"One of the things that terrifies me about the upcoming midterms is we need to make sure that the party in power believes in the rule of law," he added. "One of the stories I tell about Kevin McCarthy is, I was sitting next to him on a plane having a private conversation and then him going to the press and telling the press the exact opposite of our conversation, and when I confronted him on the House floor about this and said, 'Kevin, you know I said the exact opposite of what you told the press,' his answer was to me, 'Yeah, I know, Adam, but you know how it goes.'"

Schiff said that moral corruption flows down from the former president and has infected much of the Republican Party.

"We cannot have a leadership in Congress that has no commitment to the truth, that shares Donald Trump's willingness to falsify and lie about everything and so this, too, is what puts us in peril," he said. "I think of all the damage that Donald Trump did to our democracy, the most corrosive was this relentless attack on the truth."

Just standing there and blatantly lying has been the conservative/Republican method of operation for decades,. And that is by design because they depend on low information voters that don't know they are being lied to. Which is also how conservative/Republicans gladly followed Trump all the way to treason against the United States of America and became treasonous conservative/ Republicans. Where they not only continue to lie but expel any conservative/Republican that dare to tell the truth, But the problem is they are lying cowards and no match for conservative/Republicans that have morals, courage, a love for country and the Constitution, who weren't lying when they took their oath of office,

Liz Cheney: Trump Aides Who Ignore Capitol Riot Subpoenas Will Face Criminal Contempt Charges

Any Trump administration aides who follow the former president’s command to ignore subpoenas from the House committee investigating the Capitol riot will face criminal contempt charges, according to the panel’s vice chair and all-round MAGA nemesis Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY.) So far, four members of the Trump administration have been ordered to hand over evidence and give testimony—former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, ex-White House adviser Steve Bannon, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, and ex-Defense Department official Kash Patel. Trump has urged to quartet to ignore the panel’s subpoenas, but Cheney has warned them that would be a risky game. “In general, people are going to have to appear, or, you know, we will move contempt charges against them,” Cheney said Thursday, according to Reuters. Meadows and Patel are scheduled to give their depositions this week, and Cheney told reporters: “We’ll see if they show up. If they show up, we’ll be prepared.”

Now the committee really wants to talk to this guy and they will. But if he was smart he would have already volunteered and handed over everything they asked for. Because he is not paying attention to what the committee is doing first. Which is interviewing witness and documents from the DOJ officials that are already cooperating. So if Clark tries to refuse they can drop the hammer on him. And if he comes in and tries to lie they already have the goods on him.

Capitol riot committee subpoenas Trump DOJ official who was instrumental in election coup attempt

The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol has subpoenaed former Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark.

In a statement, the committee said Clark was "reportedly involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and interrupt the peaceful transfer of power. The subpoena seeks deposition testimony and records from Mr. Clark as part of the Select Committee's investigation into the events of January 6th and the causes of that day's violence."

The statement then elaborated on why it wanted Clark to testify.

"According to a report released last week by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, there is credible evidence that, while serving as an official at the Department of Justice, Mr. Clark was involved in efforts to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power. Mr. Clark proposed delivery of a letter to state legislators in Georgia and others encouraging to delay certification of election results. Moreover, he recommended holding a press conference announcing that the Department was investigating allegations of voter fraud despite the lack of evidence that such fraud was present. Both proposals were rejected by Department senior leadership for lacking a factual basis and being inconsistent with the Department's institutional role," the committee said. "The subpoena requires Mr. Clark to produce records and testify at a deposition on October 29th, 2021."

Chair Bennie Thompson (D-MS) explained why Clark was subpoenaed.

"The Select Committee needs to understand all the details about efforts inside the previous administration to delay the certification of the 2020 election and amplify misinformation about the election results. We need to understand Mr. Clark's role in these efforts at the Justice Department and learn who was involved across the administration. The Select Committee expects Mr. Clark to cooperate fully with our investigation," Thompson said.
